The English custom of ‘afternoon tea’ was introduced by Anna Russell, Duchess of Bedford (1783-1857) who decided that the gap between ‘luncheon’ at midday and ‘dinner’ between 7.30 and 8p.m. was too long and instigated the very English habit of taking tea and light refreshments in the afternoon. This became not only time for refreshments but also one for socialising, and an opportunity to get out the best ‘china’!
Welcome to Cup 'n' Cakes where you will find a friendly and relaxing atmosphere, you can enjoy a slice of freshly baked cake, cup of tea, coffee or hot chocolate as well as being able to order a cake to take home.
